But not all solid wood is the same. There are differences in the processing that influence both the visual character and the use of the wood.
Planed vs. rough-sawn wood
Rough-sawn wood is the most original form, straight from the sawmill. The rough, untreated surface gives the wood a robust and earthy appearance. It is ideal for projects where a natural look is desired, such as garden sheds, shelters, fences, and facade cladding. Rough-sawn wood is cheaper, but it has irregularities and may still be warped.
Planed wood, on the other hand, is further processed after sawing. It is dressed and planed, resulting in a smooth surface. The process ensures that the wood is straight, perfectly square, and evenly thick. It offers cabinet-grade quality that is ready to be used in fine woodwork and beautiful furniture. We sort out any wood with flaws beneath the surface that become visible during planing. You only receive the best wood. And if something doesn't fit, just let us know.
The choice between planed and rough-sawn wood therefore depends heavily on the desired end product. But one thing is certain: with us, you get first-class quality in both categories.
Dimensions and details
We offer solid wood boards cut to size with centimeter precision in lengths from 30 cm to 170 cm and widths from 4 cm to 17 cm. Planed wood can be ordered in thicknesses of 20, 22, 24, 40, and 42 mm. For rough-sawn wood, you can choose between thicknesses of 33 mm and 50 mm. If you require larger dimensions, please contact us.
